North Cadbury is proud to have two hard surface all weather tennis courts situated in the heart of the village, just behind the village hall and adjacent to the recreation area.
The club boasts over 100 members and has an active social and match programme.
Our fees for joining are modest as we believe in the “sport for all” concept.
The club is fortunate in that we have a “resident” LTA qualified professional in James Brooker as chairman and a tennis coach, Alex Hudson.
Club nights take place during the summer months on Tuesday evenings from 6pm with juniors on a saturday morning. The following is our latest newsletter.
NORTH CADBURY TENNIS CLUB
Welcome to 2011 with North Cadbury Tennis Club. Change is in the air at the club this year (except for the fees which have been held at 2010 prices). We welcome our new coach, Alex Hudson, who is looking forward to meeting many of you and your youngsters at coaching or team training.
We wish the ladies team well this year as they take on the big girls in Division 1 of the Yeovil and District League. And good luck to the Men’s A and B teams who are in Divisions 2 and 4 this year.
As part of the preparation for the new season we are planning some Saturday morning sessions for those interested in representing the teams this year. See below for proposed dates.
Junior Coaching will be on Saturday afternoons this summer, and Alex will be delivering coaching at the primary school to help spread the word.
We are aware that the courts need a good clean and will get this done soon, as well as planning in the forthcoming autumn to resurface the courts completely. We hope that we will get good turn outs at Club nights which will once again be on Tuesdays. Everyone is welcome – from novices to know-it-alls.
I am still waiting to appoint a secretary, so anyone who wants to take the opportunity to be properly involved in this great institution should contact me immediately!
In the meantime I will keep you informed of upcoming events as soon as they are confirmed.

Please find enclosed a membership form for the year 2011/2012. New keys to the courts will be issued to those who request them along with the annual membership cards. This year it is again intended that a list of members contact details will be released to other members making it easier for individuals to contact each other either during duty weeks or just to ask another individual for a game of tennis. If you wish your details to be added please tick the box on the membership application form.
Member Subscriptions & Visitor Fees
Club Subscriptions have once again been held at 2010 prices – representing even better value for money this year.
Visitor Fees for non-members are £1.00 per session. Please can members ensure that the fee is paid, placed in an envelope provided in the club hut and then posted through the letter box of Steve Ingram, October Cottage, 11 High Street, North Cadbury. Visitors are most welcome at the club, but we need to encourage more people to join the club.
Club Nights will continue on Tuesdays starting at 6pm. There will be a duty rota of members to organise and run one or two club nights each. The duty member will be responsible for the following:
- Unlocking the courts
- Ensuring at least four players attend and organising the players
- Making sure balls are available. ( These should be in the club hut)
- Checking the toilets are clean and tidy (the toilet key is kept in the club hut)
- Ensuring the club hut is tidy and that rubbish is taken away
Every adult member will placed on the rota to organise one Club Night. We will organise an initial rota for April & May with another published for the latter part of the summer.
We already have an allocation of Wimbledon tickets this year which are allocated this year according to the number of British Tennis Members in the club. You will only be able to be entered into the draw if you are a British Tennis Member. This is completely free. Visit: www.lta.org.uk/britishtennismembership for details.
Below is a list of this year’s officers as elected at the AGM on 24th January 2011. I hope you all have a really enjoyable and successful year with North Cadbury Tennis Club.
